Adopt The Ocelots
After nearly ten years without an ocelot arriving at Merazonia, we suddenly found ourselves caring for not one, but two of these incredible wild cats! They arrived just weeks apart under very different, but equally heartbreaking circumstances.
Babu was discovered at a chicken farm when he was around six months old, far too young to be on his own. Frightened and disoriented, he climbed a tree to escape people nearby. Unfortunately, he was scared down by locals and in the process he suffered a few minor injuries. Despite his rough start, Babu’s curiosity and independent nature are shining through!
Tiny Marisol was found deep in the jungle, lying quietly in a bush with no sign of her mother. At only three months old, she was weak, malnourished, and would not have survived much longer without help. Thanks to the generosity of some incredible supporters, she was safely flown out of the jungle and transported to Merazonia, where she finally received the care she desperately needed. Watching her regain her strength and confidence has been nothing short of inspiring!
As they are still young and would naturally live with their siblings, we carefully introduced them to each other and they began to form a beautiful companionship! They spend their days exploring, climbing, stalking, and practicing all the behaviours, preparing them for life back in the wild.
Raising ocelots is no small task. These cats require a meat-based diet, supplemented with vitamins and minerals such as iron to support their development. This specialized diet is not cheap, but absolutely vital to ensure the ocelots grow into strong, healthy, and capable adults.
By symbolically adopting Babu and Marisol, you’ll be directly supporting us to provide them with the nutrition, enrichment, medical attention, and habitat upgrades they need to not just survive but thrive!
